Welcome to Girls Got Game
Girls Got Game is an international online game jam designed to empower girls and nonbinary youths ages 13–18 to explore creativity and coding through game development. Whether you're new to games or already creating, we are excited to help you grow your skills and have fun doing it! This is a beginner-friendly event and we will be offering workshops and a supportive space to build and share your own game.

What is a Game Jam?
A game jam is a fun event where people come together to make games based on a surprise theme (ex: “light and shadow”) which we will announce at the beginning. You don’t need experience, just creativity and a willingness to try! Over a few days, you’ll design and build a simple game (on your own or with a team), and then share it with others at the end.
Requirements
The Theme is Attract!
Game Submission Guidelines
- Games must be submitted by August 22, 11:59pm PST
- Games must be created using a free or open platform (ex: Scratch, Twine, Construct, Godot, Bitsy, Unity). If you are unsure, ask in the Discord or email us at hello@girlsgotgamejam.org!
- The submission must include:
- A link to a web version of the game or downloadable zip file (We highly prefer links as they make it easier for judges.)
- A 3-5 sentence description of the game and how to play
- A 2-3 sentence description of what inspired you to create the game and what you learned in the process
- Optional (but recommended if your game is not web based): A 1-2 minute video, no voiceover, of you playing the game
- Original assets may be created using free or paid tools. You may also use free online assets as long as they are properly credited
- Your game must be based on the official theme, which will be announced at the kickoff event on August 15. You can interpret the theme in any creative way that is meaningful in your game.
